All Hallow’s eve inspiration.
All Hallow’s eve is a festive celebration which has originated in both religious faith and custom. Halloween far from having a scary influence was used for multiple means of environmental and cultural recognition. It is meant to link the land and the cycle of growth, rebirth and a positive nourishment of human life.
It is a time which has connections to the shortening in the length of the day and the closing in of the colder months. The idea that at a certain moment in time it is destined that spooks, spirits and ghouls should be seen is one which has perhaps involved the cultural tradition of the crop cycle and the colder months.
It was felt that one should protect the harvest and the home from the spirits who were believed to awaken at this time in the calendar and might have aims to taint all the positive work which had been done on the land and to furnish the home. It was with this at heart that tactical and practical physical methods were put in to practice, in the aim of keeping one’s crops and home from these spirits or sprites of the night, small Halloween gestures and protective traditions emerged.
It is at Halloween that we have an absolute occasion to think of the traditional aspect from many hundreds of years ago. It is contemporarily a more vivid renewal of the spookier or belief based representations of the time in the season. Perhaps a blend of the two notions should be kept in mind and heart at Halloween and however you have yours, may I wish you above all, a safe and Happy Halloween!
