“The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man’s heart away from nature becomes hard.”
~Luther Standing Bear, Oglala Sioux~
As you age what you carry becomes heavier, your contentment and joy depends on what you carry.
I have included a few quotes for you guys here; these are quotes which mean something vital and positive, these are the quotes which make one stop and think.
Don’t worry if you don’t know all the answers, no one knows the answer to everything, it is the finding out and the journey it brings that makes the difference.
Don’t be sad hearted if it is wet and windy today, for it may be wet today but will be sunny and joyful tomorrow.
“As a child I understood how to give; I have forgotten this grace since I became civilized.”
~Ohiyesa, Santee Sioux
“I am poor and naked but I am the chief of a nation. We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches. We want peace and love.”
~Red Cloud, Oglala Sioux~
There are several Chief White Clouds from Illinois in the nineteenth century of the Ho-Chunk tribe (Winnebago) Wabokieshiek translated as White Cloud, there is also Wabanquot a (Chippewa chief) translated as White Cloud who was from Ojibwa and Chief Mahaska who was also called White Cloud.
Here is a mention to White Cloud a Chief who has written his spiritual sense of what he believes to be true.
The Prayer of White Cloud
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made,
and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy – myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands …
and straight eyes,
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit may come to you …
