Halloween and Happiness.
At this time, many can feel as if the commercialism has taken over and forget that there was any substantial meaning to Halloween.
In fact, historically this occasion is one that celebrated the harvest and was meant to be used to positively enhance a sense of getting ready for the season. The protection over crops, fields and sustained nourishment for the colder months ahead was integral.
It can be about fun and enjoyable moments but it can also be important to think about the historical aspects of this time. In recognising the value of why people marked the calendar events, it can represent an acknowledgement of what is seasonally available and how cherished a commodity it is.
Pumpkins and other root vegetables can be used to refer to the importance of the Harvest and as a way to ward off any negativity towards the crops. This symbolic theme has a part to play in many of the displays or children’s costumes that you might well note at this time.
