Halloween.

At this time, many can feel as if commercialism has taken over and forget that there was any substantial meaning to this time of the season. In fact, historically this occasion is one that celebrated the harvest and was meant to be used to positively enhance a sense of protection over crops, fields and sustained nourishment for the cold months ahead.

It is important to think about the historical aspects of this time because in remembering the past, we can make the present all that more rich and knowledge-filled. In recognising the value of why people marked the calendar events, it can represent an acknowledgement of what is seasonally available to us and how cherished a commodity it is.

I hope that however you think about and mark this Halloween, it is a safe and positive occasion, a time that can involve much historical and present-day fun!
