The investigation into a physical séance was set in a prepared and closed room. In ensuring object and room preparation, it was far easier to acknowledge and maintain objectivity requirements. Experienced members and medium all sat in full view of each other and the séance began.
The medium was, at first in a trance, able to pass on information of spirits she could depict by sight and then provided more personality and speech based links. If accepted by a recipient, the medium then focused on more references and a personal message. The rate of validation was investigated and in each case the recipient could verify traits specific to the spirit speaker and very exact parts of an orally given message.
The medium talked of appearance and then information about a taller gentleman comedian. Links were given as for someone believed to be a Stan Laurel (born Arthur Stanley Jefferson; 16 June 1890 – 23 February 1965) an English comic actor, a film director and writer who was part of the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. He appeared with his comedy partner Oliver Hardy in 107 short films. These included feature films and cameo roles. In the séance the male spirit mentioned his mother, showed flowers and indicated a birthday anniversary. There was a happy feeling that was talked of as accompanying the male spirit and lots of smiles were indicated by him. Health issues were discussed by him as having recently, in the last two months having greatly improved. This was said to be an important message. He left with a happy birthday being said by him.
There were claims of coolness that came in when the séance was in progress. An icy chilly feeling was described by many of the sitters. While there were collective reports of this fluctuated feeling, the appearance and disappearance of it was also queried. The coolness was noted in the room all of a sudden and then after it had been claimed and discussed, again within a few seconds the temperature of the room became ambient and comfortable.
Explanation as for the claims of coolness were not located from anything have triggered it from inside or outside of the room. The door to the séance had been closed for the duration of the investigation. There were definite cooler and distinct areas of the room whereby this feeling, was claimed by the members, as noticeable.
Conversational tones were acknowledged throughout many of the messages that had been experienced. Spirits who spoke to recipients in the séance via the medium actually provoked laughter and an extremely casual feeling. This was remarked upon and felt brought a relaxed atmosphere to the majority of the séance. All of the sitters were able to have a message and spoke to spirits via the medium. While the information itself and the references were individual to each case and personal, in terms of the investigation, the validation of each part of the messages could be identified and looked at for accuracy. It did appear as if the vast majority of the messages had a high relevancy for each of the members.
