A séance is a checked and observed arena in which any unexplained activity can be noted. It is because there can be exploration into any claims of activity that it can then be researched further and any notes made on what has been experienced can be classed as proof of the occurrence.
It was a calm and quiet start to the séance. There was not any claims of activity or links to information. A coolness was felt a few minutes into the investigation and the medium started to link to individual spirits who had specific messages for members who had attended. The interesting coolness was something that was quickly felt, there was nothing inside or outside the room that should have explained it. Information was given from a spirit to a sitter and it was in these few minutes that something odd occurred. The message itself had parts to it that had been validated and then when the sitter themselves talked about the spirit who had given the message a blue light could be seen for a few seconds right next to her face. It was a strange and unexplained occurrence. It seemed significant for the sitter and the sentiment for which had just been spoken of about the spirit.
Spirit activity was claimed after this experience in the form of smell. There were several odd but pungent smells that came and went in the séance. The smells themselves were of course of interest but it was how they could be depicted quickly and then not smelt again at all that intrigued the investigation.
The medium referred to a male spirit. Information was given about Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet, FRSE (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832) a Scottish historical poet, novelist and playwright with many contemporary readers in Europe, Australia, and North America. Links were referenced by the medium to his life and how he loved to instil an interest into younger minds about the beauty that existed in life. Literature was a love of his and it was the means by which he felt closely tied into the life he led. Often quick to act, the spirit talked about his impetuous nature and how sometimes contemplation based thoughts were needed before action. Scotland was referred to by him as filled with beauty and how often he could be found in the countryside as it invigorated him. He felt that public libraries were extremely fortunate buildings for people to have today and that sometimes people took them as meeting or greeting points.
Joseph Frank “Buster” Keaton (October 4, 1895 – February 1, 1966) an American director, actor, producer, writer and stunt performer. This is who is thought to be the next spirit in the séance as he referenced himself as a black and white actor, gave appearance information about his image and talked about how he was known for his silent films. Comedy images came through and in life his trademark was physical comedy with a consistently stoic, deadpan expression, earning him a nickname to do with this. In acting out several scenes and making the séance laugh through description of this, there was also a personal message for one of the sitters.
It was a séance that gave many pause for thought. There was unexplained activity that seemed to enhance messages that had already been given and experiences that the whole séance felt a part of as they occurred. Unexplained and intriguing it was a séance that gave all who attended plenty to note about what had been seen, heard and sensed.
