These are the notes of what occurred in a séance investigation. The following contains unexplained activity, information about what was seen, heard and experienced by members during the séance.
At first it was a calm setting and there was nothing observed as having occurred. It was noted that about a short while into the séance, the medium started to demonstrate what appeared to be a spirit link. Individual spirits were spoken of by the medium, she explained who she saw, and specified male or female. Information was then linked to about who they were as people. Evidence was referenced by the medium about individuals who had passed and were known of by the members. In a set of interesting links, this information was passed through the medium in message form and was validated by the sitters. An Orb was seen at this time, an unexplained blue light which was noted in the room for a few seconds.
The medium linked to a male comedy actor, someone who had been known for his dry, sense of humour and outlook on life. After a few minutes information indicated a possible match to one Leonard Rossiter, a comedian and notable TV personality. This spirit interestingly did not refer to himself but to another for an anniversary. The medium seemed to have to wait and then she started to talk of another male comedian as being in the room. Information was given about a man who was notable for his comedy performance, links were made to who is thought to be Richard Arthur Beckinsale (6 July 1947 – 19 March 1979) who was an English actor, best known for his roles as Lennie Godber in the popular BBC sitcom Porridge (along with its sequel series Going Straight’) and as Alan Moore in the British comedy Rising Damp, a programme that also featured Leonard Rossiter.
While Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe (June 14, 1811 – July 1, 1896) an American abolitionist and author was noted in the last séance, it was referred to as important by the medium that she be mentioned again. In spirit she was seen and the medium talked of her passion and penmanship. Harriet came from a famous religious family and is best known for her novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852).
The medium talked of an Elizabeth. The name was said with emphasis. There was a pause and then after a while information was noted about someone, who according to research, is thought to be Elizabeth Josephine Brown (June 12, 1839 – January 16, 1874) who was the daughter and biographer of escaped African-American slave William Wells Brown and his first wife Elizabeth Schooner. Josephine’s account of, Biography of an American Bondman, by His Daughter, was published in Boston by an R. F. Wallcut in 1856. It was long believed to be the first ever biography that had been written by an African American woman, this is now thought to have been predated by Susan Paul’s Memoir of James Jackson, the attentive and obedient scholar (1835).
Towards the end of the séance the medium looked up and said Margaret, at the time it was not known why, but then she referred to an individual who is thought to be former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS, FRIC and she was quick to refer to a gentleman whose anniversary she would like noted. Her husband Sir Denis Thatcher, 1st Baronet, MBE, TD (10 May 1915 – 26 June 2003) who was a British businessman, was directly mentioned by her in the séance in the link. He was born in Lewisham, London, the elder child of a New Zealand-born British businessman, Thomas Herbert (Jack) Thatcher and he is thought to be the most recent person outside the Royal Family to be awarded a British hereditary title, which he was granted in 1990. In the séance the female spirit was insistent that he have his anniversary referred to and that it be said he was a dependable and loved man. A valued sports man and companion it was stated by the female spirit that they stood happily side by side for many and numerous occasions in their children’s lives.
It was both the links and the interpretation of how the information came through from one spirit about another that intrigued as evidence. Anniversary links did validate spirit individual information and the Orb activity which was seen around the time of another spirit sighting was something to be noted. Unexplained activity is of course of interest but the vast array of links and important individuals represented a side of the séance that was intriguingly informative.
