Home circle.

Here is a summary of our home circle.

Home circle held 31st May 2016.

A séance is an interesting platform from which to base an investigation as there are restrictions put upon where and how it is held.  Participants are able to sit in a prepared, checked and established area that is used for any observations of unexplained activity.

Séance notes are made during the investigation.  These inform people of what the experiences were for the members, what was seen, heard and if the activity coincided with anything else.  The séance was attended by a medium and she referred to two spirits in the investigation.  Activity was noted in the taps and knocks that were heard, noises that were heard from inside the door to the séance room.  This did seem of interest to members as the noises were depicted in and around the time when the medium linked in to the first spirit.

Poetry, morals and a sense of beauty was felt in life by this individual the medium reported and from the links it is thought that the spirit was that of Elizabeth Barrett Browning (née Moulton-Barrett; 6 March 1806 – 29 June 1861) who was one of the most prominent English poets in history, popular in Britain and the United States during her lifetime.  Writing was important to the spirit, she was said to have felt a sense of abandon from other concerns in life when she could refer to the imaginings of her mind.  In the séance there was a mention from the spirit to another female who was with her.  She spoke of another lady who was very mild mannered, someone she admired as she achieved to move people to action because of her writing.

It was then that the medium noted the second spirit.  Links were given, abolitionist poetry was named as one of her interests, an Elisabeth she was in life it was said and a person who felt strongly that if you had a conviction in the heart you should pursue it in life.  Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe (June 14, 1811 – July 1, 1896) an American abolitionist and author is thought to be the spirit referred to in the séance.  She came from a famous religious family and is perhaps most well known for her novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852).

It was a séance that was able to depict a lot of importance in the written word.  As the significance of sentiment through writing was spoken of, there was a large blue light that was seen in the room by the members.  Unexplained lights can often be referred to as Orbs and the timing of this visual activity was seen as of interest because it came after a statement about the important meaning of writing from the two spirits.

Two spirits who were able to convey a lot of significant influence through what they wrote, it was suggested that they appeared in the séance side by side because of the interests that they had in their two lives.  While this could not be proved, the information about the achievements the two ladies were able to accomplish does link with them both illustrating their feelings through notable written works.

Both spirits talked of being proud of what they had been able to do in life, young minds were said to be influenced by the heart and it was something that pleased them to know they were being talked of in schools.  It was intriguing for the purposes of the investigation because when this was referred to by the medium on behalf of both the ladies in spirit, there was a soft but significant tap heard on the table which was used in the séance investigation.

It was a séance that was of interest to me because when a statement or link can be followed up with a physical form of what is known to be unexplained activity, that is extremely difficult to explain.
