A physical séance of lights, camera and action…
The investigation into spirit activity commenced with the usual checks and preparation, items were positioned in front of the seats put out for members. The room was lit by one light and the sitters on arrival began to take to their seats.
As the physical séance was opened sitters prepared to observe any activity and the medium went into trance. There were several incidents which occurred within a short time frame. The visible activity was noticed in the form of Orbs, unexplained small blue toned lights which were noted by several of the sitters. These lights were claimed as phenomena because no one could explain why they were being seen, sighted beside sitters and the medium, it was of interest that these lights did not seem to move across each other and each was distinct from the other. There were audible sounds of footsteps walking close by to the seats of where we were sat. No person was seen or should have been physically inside the room other than the members and as the noises were depicted there was a significant lowering in the sense of the temperature in the séance.
Greta Garbo (born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson 18 September 1905 – 15 April 1990) was a Swedish film actress, she was an international star and icon during Hollywood’s silent classic periods. It is thought from what was ascertained in the séance, from the information and the linked claimed activity that it was this individual who was noted in the physical séance. Garbo was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actress, she received an honorary one in 1954. She also won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress for both Anna Karenina (1935) and for Camille (1936). In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Garbo fifth on their list of greatest female stars of all time, she was positioned after Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn, and Ingrid Bergman. The information about a lady who appeared in films, who moved to suit her career and who loved to be seen in the films of history and romance, all were noted as blue Orbs once again were claimed. There was only one unexplained light on this occasion but it came in along with a cooler sense of the temperature in the room once again.
The séance was keen to talk about the smells that were being noted strongly by all in the room. There was an odd smell of oranges which came as quickly as it went. It seemed too quick for it to be able to leave the vicinity of the room without there being any open door or possible cause for it to do so. The medium talked of another female actress, one who was known for her languid looks, her sense of feminine wiles and a strong integrity for a female actress of her time, the medium did link to information and this checked out to match with one Ingrid Bergman; 29 August 1915 – 29 August 1982) who was a Swedish actress who starred in a variety of European and American films. Ingrid won three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and the Tony Award for Best Actress. The spirit did speak out in the séance saying that ‘lists were historical achievements’ she said ‘but you should live your life for more than just being a name on one of those blasted lists, be the person in front of the camera who is once and for all seen, never really someone forgotten.’ In life Bergman did appear on a list as she is ranked as the Fourth greatest female star, out of 25, of American cinema of all time by the American Film Institute. There was a strong smell of Tobacco and the wall looked to be lit up by light several times, one sitter suggested it was as if they were seated at a cinema and the lights were coming from one of those old light machines, although that was a subjective view the light itself was interesting to note. Bergman talked about her daughters and her legacy lived on, a boy will be the strength of spirit but the daughters give one the conviction to see it all through. She talked about a link to a Princess which was not understood but in life it was suggested that Ingrid Bergman was named after the Princess Ingrid of Sweden. The spirit in the séance said that ‘You can call me Joan, but Joan I’m not.’ It is interesting that she explained something similar in life when talking about the separation of herself from her portrayal of Joan of Arc. The spirit talked of an allusion to her daughter who has a birthday later in the month and to Rochester, which was a place Rochester New York where Ingrid’s first husband was a student of medicine. In life research has stated that Bergman is best remembered for her roles as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca (1942), and as Alicia Huberman in Notorious (1946), an Alfred Hitchcock thriller starring Cary Grant. In the séance Sir Norman Wisdom was mentioned by her and while the medium was clear that we had only the two female spirits actually visible to her in the investigation it was important to note Sir Norman Wisdom as Bergman wanted to talk about this mighty, cheeky chap. He was someone who knew how to make her laugh, she loved his agility on set, his sense of a carefree attitude.
Sir Norman Joseph Wisdom, OBE (4 February 1915 – 4 October 2010) was an English actor, comedian, and he was a singer-songwriter best known for a series of comedy films. He is being noted in the blog as one of the spirit’s alluded to a professional relationship with him.
The séance was full of film links and action. The lights, the Orbs, the statement and the somewhat personal information from individual spirits all arguably shaped it into a séance of interest for all who were able to observe it. It is of interest that both the female spirits were of Swedish origin and I did find a link in that of the anniversary of birth and passing dates of Ingrid Bergman which were noted on 29 August.
